As I reflect on this year I must once again state that this has been the roughest year yet. It has been a trying year, a sowing year and an incredibly rewarding year. My husband refers to it as "the year of the lesson". I've learned so much this year. There have been some really tough lessons that I'm glad I learned at 26. I went into 2016 praying for strength and patience . When you pray for something you must go through a testing. My is all of 2016. I believe I've proven my self worthy of the blessing that are coming my way.
I started 2016 off 7 months pregnant with a strained relationship with my extended family. Then bed rest on January 13th due to
The excessive stress from work and home life. I would push my body too hard trying to help everyone and had to be sat down for the safety of myself and my daughter. I went to the hospital twice for possibly pulmonary embolism and this was all just January!!
My daughter's birth in March brought so much joy to our lives. Then we were displaced from our home twice due to flooding and factors outside of our control. As the months passed it seemed to get harder and harder with glimmers of happiness and some real special moments woven in between all of the craziness. When I look back I can say God truly carried us and the Holy Spirit guided our steps at every turn. I cannot credit myself with any of the success I have experienced this year. I was a mental mess. I'm more thankful than ever to have had my husband by my side the entire time. When things got tough he looked to the lord for guidance and pressed through. With our daughter as our motivation we have made it to the end of 2016. I'm ready for this chapter to close and I'm excited to see what 2017 has to offer. 2016 is in the rear view and 2017 is set in our sights. I can't say what will happen but I am praying that this year comes a reaping. I'm ready for your blessings lord!!!! My sights are set on you! Let Gods will be done in my life! Amen and Amen!
It works... with pampers. Specifically pampers cruisers for us. Other pampers will do, but my daughters thighs are real deal chunkins city. She has the cutest little chunky thighs that don't fit things. Pampers cruisers seal the wetness in without digging into her thighs. Nonetheless we will continue to do one diaper change in the middle of the night because my Zirah loves water. She drinks about 4 oz per day and that's because I make her stop. She could easily drink a 12 ounce water bottle. Not juice, water. So she pees quite a bit. The verdict on overnight diapering....
Mommy approved 🏆 baby approved 🎖unnecessary 👎🏽
And other ThiNgs i didnt knoW before becoming a moM
This is not a personhood debate so let's get that out the way before we start. Day 1 of baby earth side I learned my daughter is...
When your child doesn't feel well it scary. They can't tell you if mommy is making it better or daddy is making if worse. It feels like the worst game of operation ever. It's a hit or miss type of thing and there is no confirmation whether you are hot or cold. Zirah tummy hurts tonight, I believe. I say I believe because she can't tell me!

hand washing 101
I failed. Mommy duties called, we moved, excuses excuses. I didn't get the everyday importance of washing your hands posts up. But I washed my hands everyday though! I washed my hands after every diaper change. I washed my hands during and after prepping my meat especially poultry for dinner. I washed my hands when I blew my nose and every time I went to the bathroom. Wash your DAMN hands. If your in a situation where you can't, then use hand sanitizer and wash your hands when you can!! ... Ya lil nasty!
Below are some illnesss and diseases that can be prevented by hand washing.
Hand foot mouth disease
Search hand, foot and mouth disease and I bet you wash your hands right now!
Taking responsibility: mommy fails
I'm not perfect. There are no perfect parents. I fail and fall short constantly. Some of the fails are funny and others are more serious. This week my mommy fail is hurting my daughters head. I have hit her head a few times , 7 to be exact. Let me preface this by saying anytime she hits her head I'm responsible because I'm the adult, so I hit her head. The fact that I know how many times should tell you I take it serious. I know head injuries are very serious and can lead to issues like brain bleeding etc. Zazu just started standing from a crawl and cruising around. So naturally there may be more bumps and bruises. In the last 24 hours she bumped her head 3 of those 7 times. What kind of mother am I!? No injuries ...thank goodness and I've laughed it off at this point.
I'm starting to wonder if this will be a bumpy phase. I hit her fore head on the bed, the back of her head on the floor and she just hit her head on the remote. I laughed so hard at the last one I lost my breath and my husband had to grab her from me. I truly pray none of this affects her and she hasn't cried at all but geeze am I just a crappy parent. Mommy fail central over here. I'm super excited for the I just learned to walk let me try to run away stage.
